The Ubajara National Park is located on the eastern edge of the Ibiapaba Plateau, at a distance of approximately 340 km from Fortaleza, being in the northwestern portion of the State of Ceará. It is an Integral Protection Conservation Unit, with 6,288 hectares, currently covering the municipalities of Ubajara, Tiangua and Frecheirinha. The objective of the research is to discuss land use and vegetation cover within the limits of the Ubajara National Park and the influence received through the surrounding areas. The study is based on the methodology developed by Bertrand (1972) and the understanding of the Ecodynamics of the environment proposed by Tricart (1977) and adapted by Souza (2000). The main forms of land use and vegetation cover are associated mainly with the best soil and climatic conditions. In the study area, in which they exert an influence on the vegetal typology and in the different types of uses such as urban expansion toward the unit, deforestation and illegal burnings, predatory hunting, urban and rural waste, the launching of sewers causing pollution of rivers and springs that drain into the Park. In this sense, it is necessary to adopt community awareness campaigns to avoid these problems, through the adoption of sustainable practices.
